In April 2019, PLNU’s Concert Choir celebrated the beginning of the Jewish week of Passover with Congregation Beth Israel, San Diego’s oldest Jewish congregation, symbolizing PLNU’s solidarity with Congregation Beth Israel and the entire Jewish community.

That same week, on the closing Saturday of Passover, a gunman entered the Chabad of Poway Synagogue just 15 miles away, killing one member and wounding three others.

Composed by Juilliard graduate Kenneth Lampl in 2017, Dirshu Adonai’s lyrics in Hebrew, Dirshu Adonai veuzo bakeshu fanav tamid, translate to: Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His presence continually.

Under the direction of Dan Jackson, D.W.S., PLNU’s Concert Choir dedicates this performance at Congregation Beth Israel as a symbol of solidarity between PLNU, the San Diego Jewish community, and all San Diego faith communities following the Chabad of Poway Synagogue shooting in April 2019.
